Donating Blood During the Holidays

Have you ever thought: “I’d like to help but I just don’t have the time or money.” Well, if you’ve ever wanted to help others but find yourself limited by time and budget, consider donating blood. In less than one hour you can help save the lives of as many as 3 people and it won’t cost you a dime.

The Gift of Life in Minutes

It’s not surprising that blood donations drop during the holiday season but unfortunately the need for blood does not. The demand is constant, and actually increases during this time of year due to an uptick in car accidents and other incidents.

The process is simple: at the PIH Health Blood Donor Center, it takes about 35 to 45 minutes from start to finish. The blood donation itself takes 5 to 10 minutes. Donors need to be 17 years or older, in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and eat and hydrate well before giving blood.

Consider becoming a regular blood donor throughout the year, but especially during the holidays.
