PIH Health Breast Center Earns Accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

PIH Health Breast Center, also known as PIH Health Hospital – Whittier Breast Cancer Program, has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). To achieve voluntary NAPBC accreditation, the program demonstrated compliance with the NAPBC standards that address a center’s leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement for patients. Breast centers seeking NAPBC accreditation undergo a site visit every three years.

“To receive this accreditation is a great honor and tribute to our staff and physicians who deliver excellent care to our patients,” said James Kuo MD, radiologist and co-medical director of the PIH Health Breast Center. “This unwavering commitment to quality care can be found in every aspect of our organization. This accreditation challenges us to continue that commitment and assure that everyone in our community is provided the best possible care.”

As an NAPBC-accredited center, the PIH Health Hospital – Whittier Breast Cancer Program is committed to maintaining levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered, multidisciplinary care resulting in high-quality care for patients with breast disease. Patients can be confident that their breast care team includes health care professionals from a variety of disciplines who are committed to working together to provide the best care available through their entire course of treatment. Patients receiving care at an accredited center also have access to information on clinical trials and new treatment options, genetic counseling, and patient-centered services including psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and survivorship care.

“This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring patients are receiving high quality care,” said Ivonne Munoz RN BSN, director of the PIH Health Breast Center. “We have a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that is committed to providing compassionate and quality clinical care when it comes to breast cancer treatment.”

Patients receiving care at the NAPBC-accredited center have access to:
