PIH Health Foundation Receives $75,000 Grant Award from QueensCare to Expand Free Transportation Services for Patients Across Los Angeles County
Los Angeles, Calif. (January 14, 2026) — The grant will benefit patients without transportation alternatives at PIH Health Whittier Hospital, PIH Health Downey Hospital, and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as PIH Health’s medical office buildings throughout Los Angeles County.
Reliable transportation remains one of the most critical—and often overlooked—determinants of health. For many patients, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities, lack of transportation can lead to missed appointments, delayed care, and poorer health outcomes. This grant helps ensure that vulnerable patients can access essential medical services safely, consistently, and with dignity.
“Transportation should never be a barrier to receiving quality healthcare,” said Dr. Erin Jackson-Ward, President and CEO of QueensCare. “By supporting PIH Health’s transportation services, we are helping ensure patients stay engaged in their care and maintain independence, particularly those who are disproportionately affected.”
The grant also reflects the long-standing partnership between QueensCare and PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital, a collaboration rooted in a shared mission to improve access to compassionate, high-quality care for underserved communities in Los Angeles. Through this investment, QueensCare is helping extend that impact beyond PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital to the broader PIH Health network, allowing more patients to benefit from coordinated, affordable transportation options.
“QueensCare has been a trusted partner of PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital for many years, and we are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to our patients,” said Amy Fitzgerald, Vice President, PIH Health Foundation. “This grant allows us to expand transportation services across PIH Health, helping remove a significant barrier to care for patients who need it most.”
With this funding, PIH Health Foundation will strengthen its transportation programs, supporting access to preventive care, follow-up visits, diagnostic services, and ongoing treatment across hospital and outpatient settings.
