PIH Health Promotes Cindy Place to Chief Quality Officer
Whittier, Calif. (April 22, 2026) – PIH Health has announced the promotion of Cindy Place, MSN RN, to Chief Quality Officer. Place previously served as vice president of Quality and Performance Improvement
As Chief Quality Officer, Place will lead the organization wide quality strategy, ensuring alignment across operations, human resources, technology, and patient experience, while strengthening a culture where quality is embedded in every aspect of care.
“Cindy’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing our systemwide approach to quality and performance improvement,” said Peggy Chulack, Chief Administrative Officer. “Her ability to bring teams together and elevate standards of care has had a meaningful impact across the organization.”
Place most recently led Quality Management, Performance Excellence, Patient Safety, Medical Staff Services, Infection Prevention, and key clinical programs, including joint, bariatric, and stroke services. In tandem with that role, she served as interim Chief Nursing Officer at PIH Health Whittier Hospital from January through March 2026.
Place began her career with PIH Health in 1988 as a critical care nurse and has since advanced through a series of leadership roles in quality and performance excellence. Over more than three decades, she has driven initiatives that improved outcomes, strengthened patient safety, and earned PIH Health recognition for quality excellence. A respected nurse leader, Place is known for building collaborative teams, developing leaders, and fostering strong relationships across disciplines—driving meaningful improvements in care delivery and the patient experience.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
