Transitional Care Unit Now Open at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital

Downtown Los Angeles Residents Now Have Access to Skilled Nursing Facility on Hospital Campus

PIH Health has opened a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital. The distinct-part skilled nursing facility will hold 28 licensed beds for patients who require skilled care.

“We are pleased to offer this multi-level healthcare for patients on our hospital campus,” says Shelly Necke, MSN, RN, vice president of Post-Acute Care Services, PIH Health. “The TCU at PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital will allow us to continue to care for patients who need additional rehabilitation before returning home from a hospital stay. It also lowers the risk for hospital readmission, reduces complications related to transfer of care among at-risk populations and improves patient satisfaction.”

PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital’s Transitional Care Unit team is comprised of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, a unit secretary and an activity leader. Further support will be provided by PHGSH therapists, social workers and case managers.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Gudars Rahnema DO, who will be providing the clinical oversite as medical director of the TCU.
