Standards of Excellence Award

PIH Health Physicians is one of just 45 organizations to receive this designation by the California Association of Physician Groups

PIH Health Physicians has been awarded Elite Status in the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) 2014 Standards of Excellence survey for the third year in a row. PIH Health Physicians was one of just 45 physician groups in the state to achieve the coveted honor in 2014.

Elite Status is achieved by surpassing rigorous, peer-defined benchmarks in all four of the survey categories: Care Management, Health Information Technology, Accountability/Transparency and Patient Centered Care.

“It is an honor to be recognized for the third consecutive year,” said Ramona Pratt, chief operating officer of PIH Health Physicians. “PIH Health Physicians is committed to providing our patients with superior healthcare and adhering to the highest standards.”

CAPG designed the annual Standards of Excellence survey to assess the capabilities of accountable healthcare organizations to accomplish the threefold goal of population health, individual patient experience and affordability. The 2014 review process included extensive information regarding group supports for primary care, the most important element of a high-performing delivery system.

“What started eight years ago has now become an industry standard in measuring the tools required for sophisticated healthcare systems to deliver accountable and value-based care in the physician practice setting,” said Donald Crane, president and chief executive officer of CAPG.

The Standards of Excellence survey is a voluntary, critical self-assessment for CAPG’s 180 medical group members in California and 29 other states. Starting in 2013, CAPG collaborated with the National Committee for Quality Assurance on the application analysis and auditing of the survey.  For more information, visit
