Good Visit

It was a good experience for the most part the scary part was the elevator I know it's weird to say but other than that I had a good experience Dr Avanta Collier was nice and professional she did her job accordingly she was very courteous and polite she asked me questions she listened to me she didn't brushing me off he didn't rush she took her time the nurses were very polite and nice everyone there did their job they were very professional and nice and it was a good clean atmosphere I was a nervous going in but what made me nervous was the elevator it was quickly and it kind of scared me and small and I'll do well in small spaces but anyway the nurses and Dr.Collier took their time with me and gave me time to do my paperwork since I was a new patient and I appreciate it the time they took out to let me get myself relaxed and calm I really do appreciate it and my experience overall was great!

Dr. Collier did a great job. I really appreciate her. I've been seeing her for years. I accidentally pressed one for the, would you advise other family members to see her? I would absolutely advise other family members to see her. She is an excellent doctor and I appreciate her over the years. Thank you very much.

Very efficient process to freeze suspect spots and take biopsies. Doctor listened to my concerns about suspect areas. Very pleased with visit.

Dr Collier is AMAZING!

Dr. Collier made my biopsy pain-free virtually and it was very simple, something I wasn't looking forward to, but something that was done with no pain and very quickly and I thank her for that. Also, I would love to get a response as to the results as soon as possible because, of course, it's scary. Thank you. (PHI removed).

Okay, I think I mis pressed a button. So yes, I would definitely recommend this doctor and this care to my family. I think I pressed one when I meant to press ten. I think I messed that up. Anyhow, aside from that, there was a glitch in 2025 January. Your computer systems got hacked. I think I got lost for a year, and that's too bad. I wish I would have gotten a call back or something more permanent, but however, the computer system recommended me for another appointment, in which I kept. So that worked out. Just if you lose contact with patients, reach out to them. They're your patients. They belong to you, kind of. Anyhow, take care. Thank you. Thank you.

Friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff.

It's hard to believe that getting skin tags removed is considered cosmetic by PIH and that I would likely have to pay for them if my insurance didn't cover it. Especially if the skin tags are in an area where they get irritated and grow bigger

Dr. Collier was courteous, friendly, respectful, listened to what I had to say, treated my issue on the spot, gave instructions before I left.

She was professional, kind and knowledgeable

The only thing I might suggest is if the front office is aware that the waiting room can hear their personal conversations they have.

Upon my arrival the front desk clerk was on a personal call that last approximately 10 mins (She was speaking Spanish to a family member) and delayed my ability to see the physician. In the background I noticed that the back office assistant/nurse was waiting for me to get checked in.

Staff is welcoming and cordial. I see the dr monthly and make my appt 3-6 months out. Dr Collier is always warm and sensitive to my needs. I appreciate the ease of accessing the La Mirada office. All this combined makes my experience enjoyable.

I've been going with Dr. Collier for probably about three or four years, and she has been an excellent, excellent physician. I would recommend her for all of my dermatology care and any of my friends, and I just think she is absolutely fantastic. I have seen other dermatologists at PIH, and I will only go to her. That's the only one I will go to. I think she is fantastic, absolutely fantastic. And she listens to me, absolutely listens to me. So I think she is a top-notch doctor. And I am a registered nurse for over 50 years, and I have worked with dermatologists. So I know what to ask and what to look for. And she is everything. She is a top-notch doctor. Amen.

One elevator in the building was out of order and made for a lengthy wait; also the restroom in the Dr. ofc was out of order. These two incidents made my experience a little troublesome, however as far as my experience with Dr. Collier was very pleasant and professional. She is such a sweetheart!

Dr. Collier is excellent. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. She was able to diagnose my problems right away and suggest new treatment that would be more beneficial than what I had tried. I appreciate her concern and care. Of note: I had to wait almost six months for this appointment, which is not acceptable. My follow-up visit months from now was difficult to book due to a full schedule. Perhaps more physicians are needed for this specialty? Or PAs or NPs? The waits are far too long.

35 min wait after appt time due to multiple patients scheduled at the same appt time. I know you have to make money but you have to respect our time too!!

The reason I didn't answer all 10's on survey is because I feel that I'm sure she's qualified as a Dermatologist, however in my case, I didn't really understand why she was not able to do anything for me and referred me to another Dermatologist. I was feeling good about seeing her and that I wouldn't have to start over with another provider.

This provider was not very thorough in examining me and didn't explain or provide any information or feedback. She seemed preoccupied and was in a rush. The office staff is not welcoming or friendly at all. This was not a good experience.

Dr Collier is a wonderful Doctor. I wish my daughter could see her- unfortunately her insurance is with a different company.

The office visit was scheduled for 10, 30 a.m. and I didn't get seen till 45 minutes later. I would have preferred to be seen a lot sooner than that, understanding that we had a scheduled appointment and I was on a standard workday. So I gauged my time with the office in accordance with that. And unfortunately, it overran the expected time to be there. The office staff was very good. The doctor was outstanding. It was the timing in which I was seen that is in question. My information is provided. Call back to (PHI removed). I can expand further on that if you would like.

My experience was good. I got there a little early and was attended to within 15 minutes. Doctor treated me, explained my condition and I was done within 45 minutes.

Everything went well at the doctor's office. I really love Dr. Collier. She's wonderful. I think very knowledgeable. The only thing that I see the issue is that it is very hard to get an appointment with her as soon as one wants it. It seems that there isn't enough doctors in the office, so the appointments are being set too far out. and that it's really not good. I almost considered going to another dermatologist because it was really hard to get an appointment with Dr. Collier. Thank you.

Dr. Collier and her staff were very nice. My issue is with how long it took to get an appointment with her. I called last May 1st to schedule an appointment and there first available appointment was on 9/15/25. That is unacceptable. I feel like PIH Health is failing it's patients with obviously a shortage of doctors.

I liked Dr Collier because she went straight to the point took care of my problem, explained everything did what she had to, and was very courteous, and respectful. Not like others that just gives you a little cream to see what happens.

There are not enough dermatologists available. The wait time to see one is months.

My doctor is professional and knows her work very well. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful! But I am unhappy the fact that it takes very long time to get appointments, no matter what doctor is needed. It is taking over 3 months to get appointments. This appointment with Dr. Collier was because there was a cancellation and lucky that I called. When I made my derma doc appointment, she was able in November. It was very necessary I needed to see her. Asked for any derma doc. None available. This was very frustrating because I was miserable! My only solution was I went to the pharmacist at CVS, recommended over the counter meds .. useless didn't work! Then I went to Urgent Care!!!! Soon after I had a regular appointment with my GP, he informed me wrong meds!!! Luckily there was a cancellation at my regular derma doc so I was able to see my dermatologist. My bone of contention is you please find a solution to this problem. I don't think the Emergency is the answer either. My experiences with this is the very long wait too!

My brother and my wife also see this provider based on my recommendation. Dr. Collier is thoroughly professional and personable. She listens and explains things clearly.

Excellent experience at the La Mirada PIH Dermatology office: front desk staff were super-friendly and there was little wait time. Dr Collier was amazing at listening to my concerns about a new spot on my forearm, skin-checking my back for any additional spots, and recommending and prescribing a product for my keratosis pilaris. I'm glad to have her as my new dermatologist and look forward to visiting again in six months for a follow-up check on the spot on my forearm.

Dr. Collier was running a bit behind, however, she was extremely apologetic for the delay and saw me as soon as she could and was able to address all my issues. The office staff was professional and nice; they let me know about the delay as I had checked in and even offered water to all the patients while we were waiting.

It is always a pleasure to see Dr. Collier. I actually look forward to each visit because everyone is so pleasant.

I saw this provider a year ago for hair loss. She told me to try topical minoxidil first. So I did and it did not work well for me. During my most recent visit, I ask her for the prescription and was told that she did not want to give it to me since I was on Spironolactone (50mg) and didn't want to give me something that would lower my blood pressure. However, she said that if my PCP was ok with it, the. She'd be ok with my PCP writing a prescription for me. I asked my PCP and she said she only prescribes minoxidil for hypertension. So I wasted $50 for the visit since she didn't do what I requested. I will not return to see this provider.

Unfortunately I had to wait 12 months for this appt Was a. Update on precancerous condition in the right side of my face Dr took a biopsy- I am scheduled back in September for recheck & more options Dr Collier is helpful $ explains procedures

I didn't feel comfortable. Office girls were discussing me as a third person as to why I was there. I interjected and they brushed me aside. My doctor wanted a biopsy done and the doctor said they don't do it there. What a waste of my time. Usually p I h is very professional.

Yeah, I was told I would be at an appointment in two months follow-up. Then I find out that I get a six-month follow-up appointment. And the doctor told me I would have a two-month appointment. And that wasn't true. I'm a little upset with that. Thank you.

For the first question, I would have picked four, but I jumped at that and pressed two instead. (name removed), the receptionist up front, was extremely great and kind. She helped me get an appointment the same day given a very urgent skin matter, and she helped me see Dr. Collier, who I had seen previously. So, (name removed) was phenomenal, and she offered me great customer service and samples when I was checking in the lobby. Dr. Collier was nothing but exceptional. She really listened to what I had to say, answered my questions thoroughly, and provided clear instructions and great bedside manner for giving me the treatment plan, the directions. So, I'm only a few days in, and the medication that she gave me is already healing my skin. Nothing has worked.

I liked the doctor herself. She was great. I did not like the staff. I did not like their aftercare. They delayed my prescriptions. They didn't give me an after visit summary. They just sent me home with a new appointment, which was even unclear what the appointment was for a follow up appointment. I mean, the staff and the office and how it was run was just. Not ideal. I didn't care for that. I struggled with them, but I did think the doctor herself was fine. It's just her staff and how they follow through with the patients. That was not.

I think it needs more improvement in the fact of being more compassionate with the patient. Patients have been waiting for so long to see for an appointment and just to get the appointment it took a while. I understand that there's only limited doctors for dermatology, but even once you do get to see them, them spending the time with the explaining of what they think it is and what is it for, what other things you can do. I was in pain, burning, itchiness, and definitely not knowing the unknown of what it could be. I think a little bit more compassion with your patients will be very important as well as the staff. You know, the staff, supposedly they were going to explain to me how to take care of this or even I had a reminder for that. So just pretty much that. Thank you.

Dr. Collier, is very attentive to my needs and concerns.

I took off work for this appointment, it took me 10 mins to get to the appointment was seen by the doctor and left stopped at McDonald's for food and clocked back in at work it took an hour to do all this. The doctor did not fully examine me or really look at the moles I was asking about. Was not confident on this visit at all. She didn't give me a chance to ask questions she rushed me out of the office to schedule me for another visit. It was a (word removed) joke.

I'm not too familiar with dermatology exams, so I'm not 100% sure if she was thorough.........I hear they should use a special light. Overall it was a good appointment.

Hi, the doctor was very, very instrumental in getting my mom's prescription filled. And when we thought that the insurance may decline, we received the ointment within three business days. So that was very appreciative. As my mother has lived with vitiligo for a long time, and so it was the options that the doctor gave us were also great. And we appreciate the time that she spent with us, the samples that we were given, and the staff, the staff was awesome. Thank you.

The waiting room was empty, no phones were ringing... and the gal at the front desk couldn't be bothered by looking at me, acknowledging me or even listening to my answers to her questions (she asked my name twice within the span of 60 seconds.) I felt invisible. The gal that took me to the exam room also didn't bother looking at me, acknowledging me, or listening to my answers to her questions (I said I was there for the doctor to look at some spots on my face...to which she replied "do you need to get undressed?" Ummm. Undressed? For my face? So the office staff left a lot to be desired, the doctor did answer my questions and I felt that really was the point of the visit. Aside from the fact it took 4 MONTHS to get in to see her. You guys can do better.

I have been fortunate to have Dr. Collier as my dermatologist for many years. She is always very thorough and respectful. Yesterday she had a student she was training on his rotation. Both her nurse and the doctor asked me if it was alright for the student to watch and learn. Again, very respectful of my feelings.

Doctor Collier answered all my questions and demonstrated care and professionalism regarding the procedure that took place. The medical assistant, (name removed), was very professional and provided detailed information about the after-care steps necessary for proper healing. Thank you. (PHI removed)

It is so hard to get a timely appointment in this office. Appointments are 4-6 months out and that is a big problem if you are worried about something. Now one of their MD's has left which makes it even more difficult. The MD's are always really good docs and nice. But almost impossible to get in when you need to. That's the #1 problem with PIH.

It took three months to get an appointment. Four days before my appointment I got a call changing my appointment from the morning to the afternoon. The day before my appointment I got a text showing that I had one appointment in the morning and one in the afternoon. I tried calling the office and never got a call back and was on hold for ten minutes. I just gave up and went to the afternoon appointment.

Nice doctor I do miss having (name removed). But I understand she's no longer with PIH
