Erin Capitena MD is a board-certified family medicine and palliative medicine practitioner. Dr. Capitena chose her specialty because she loves seeing patients of all ages. She appreciates the opportunity to develop ongoing relationships with her patients and their family.
"I see family medicine as the perfect specialty to advocate for patients and community health," says Dr. Capitena. Her fellowship training includes complex-symptom management as well as communication and decision making in advanced illnesses and at the end of life. She is part of the faculty at the PIH Health Whittier Family Medicine Residency Program.
In 2014, Dr. Capitena was inducted as a member of the Gold Humanism Society. She earned the Society for the Teachers of Family Medicine and USC/California Hospital Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Resident Teacher Award for 2017 - 2018.
In her spare time, Dr. Capitena enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking new vegetarian recipes and attending concerts.
