I had a great experience with Dr. Tarkey for my first visit. I really appreciated how he listened to me and answered my questions regarding weight-loss medication.

I was able to schedule an appointment with Dr Tarkey as my PCP was not available. Dr Tarkey was very nice, professional and listened to my issue. He answered all my questions with patience. His staff, (name removed), was also great as she assisted in clearing the issue in my ears. Overall the visit was a pleasant.

The PIH corporate model of patient care has in my opinion, taken the philosophy that a 20 minute office visit is all that is necessary to assess a patients medical needs. In my case, I have a long history of medical problems that need to be known because those could be tied into what is going on with me now. Prior to almost all medical practices now having very restrictive time allotments for office visits, doctors would spend the time to go over patient history and see if there was a connection between earlier problems and what is occurring now. Especially the diseases that take a decade or more to appear, apparently out of the blue, but actually started 5, 10, 15, years ago. And knowing that, the Doc can make far better assessments/treatment options now, instead of starting testing all over again with tests and treatments that were previously done that wastes time and effort that could be used to advance and get better results currently. I think that current medical treatment models are definitely put in place for profit over patient care. It is obvious over the entire medical structure in this country. The "computer age" has brought about a mindset that AI, high speed computing and storage of information is superior to the human "doctor" is here for information input to storage device is more important than hands on a patient, and a good history. Now the docs enter the exam room with a laptop, a pharma prescription pad, and a voice recorder. When was the last time the patient had a physical exam as well as talking to the patient including questions about patient history? I think profit and pharma has taken over the role of the doctor, who has become a data and input specialist.

Hello, I was satisfied with the service. It's just that when I called, I asked for how much it would be the consultation for someone like me with no insurance. They told me it would start at 1:20. And it turned out to be 216, which was upsetting because I'm on a budget, times are tough, and it's just, there was no way around it. That's all. It's too expensive. Thank you.

Yes, my experience was very nice with Dr. Michael. I had no complaint. I think he's a very nice doctor. He listened and he seemed like he's a very good doctor. It's just that I don't know him and I said when I, after Dr. (name removed) retired, that I do, I would appreciate having a female doctor because I have other, my other doctors are all male. I have nothing against male doctors, but I just would like to have my primary care doctor as a female doctor. Okay, thank you.

I was very, very impressed. I called as a new patient and they made an appointment for the very next day. The medical student that came in to see me and take my history was very, very efficient and kind. And the doctor is lovely. He's so kind. And it took so much of the worry I have about getting new orthopedes and psychiatrists and all that stuff. I really like him. I kind of deal with him for all.

I have a very complex cardiovascular condition being treated by specialists from outside PIH because PIH is way over its head. This was my first visit with Dr. Tarkey. He will be my PCP and as such gave a very good impression. I have yet to challenge him with a diagnosis and thus have little experience with his capabilities as a physician.

I think you need to talk to your person in charge of the lab. She was kind of rude to me and did not want to take the sample, wanted me to read the sign, go down to window one, check in, and then come back. And then by that time she had another patient that she was drawing blood, so she had closed the door. And then when she was done with that patient, she knew I was outside waiting and she still ignored me. So finally, I was able to leave the sample and she gave me a hard time about it. Tried to tell me that Dr. Tarkey is new, perhaps he doesn't understand how things go, etc, etc. But anyway, that's just one person in the situation.

I'm used to older Doctors but Michael was very good at listening and being professional.

Hi, my name is (PHI removed) and I saw Dr. Tarkey for the first time and he was very nice, thorough and he listened to everything that I said. And I want to change to him as my primary doctor because I think me and him would be great together and he's new to the company and I need someone that's going to be there. And it sounds like he is going to be there for a long time from what he told me. And so that's why I want him to be my primary doctor and I think he'll be great for my healthcare. The only problem is is that I can't choose him as my primary care doctor because he is listed at Illinois as licenses. So hopefully we get that straightened out and then I can choose him as my primary doctor. Thank you for all the help that you do for me and all the healthcare

The experience I received on 07/31 had been one of the best experiences in PIH. The office staff was very friendly and treated me with respect, they were kind and polite to me. When I see Michael Tarkey, he was happy and smiling which created a initial good impression. He answer all my questions and make sure i understood. I am happy to say that he is one of the best doctors I ever had and the way he treated me was exceptional and that built trust towards him. I will recommend him to other people I know who are looking for a understanding doctor.
