Dr. Shankar chose Hematology and Oncology as a specialty because they are dynamic fields. "There are many unknowns in cancer," he explains, "and that forces me as a physician to always be learning and striving to improve. The complex process in the development of cancer and the tools we use to fight it is fascinating."
Dr. Shankar and his wife love to travel, explore new restaurants, and spend time with their friends and family. They recently became a new family of five, welcoming home twin babies, who join their toddler, and so their love of international travel is on hold, understandably, for the near future.
