Congestive Heart Disease & Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart disease is a general term that includes various heart-related conditions, such as coronary artery disease and heart failure. Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a specific condition where the heart struggles to pump blood, causing symptoms and fluid buildup. Common signs and symptoms of CHF include shortness of breath, persistent coughing or wheezing, fluid retention leading to swelling in the legs, abdomen, or other areas, fatigue, and increased heart rate. If you experience these symptoms, it's important to seek medical attention for a proper diagnosis and management.

If you have symptoms of CHF, you might be a candidate for the Barostim Baroflex Activation Therapy or CardioMEMS™ HF System.

The CardioMEMS™ HF System makes it possible for doctors to closely monitor patients with heart failure without their leaving home. A small sensor is implanted in your pulmonary artery; the sensor measures and records your pulmonary artery pressure, and that information is transmitted to your cardiologist. This allows your doctor to adjust your heart failure medications to help you feel better and reduce your risk of hospitalization.
