Peripheral Artery Disease
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) occurs when blood vessels outside the heart and brain narrow or get blocked. Approximately 8.5 million people in the United States are affected by PAD. Primarily affecting leg arteries, PAD results in diminished blood flow, manifesting as leg pain and cramps.
Additional symptoms of PAD may include:
- Weakness in the legs, particularly during physical activity
- Numbness or tingling in the legs
- Slow-healing sores or wounds on the feet
- Changes in skin color or temperature on the legs
If you have the following symptoms, you might be a candidate for Crosser iQ™ Ultrasonic CTO (Chronic Total Occlusion) Device or the Diamondback 360® Coronary Orbital Atherectomy System.
The Crosser iQ™ Ultrasonic CTO recanalization system uses special technology that uses ultrasound energy to safely cross through the hard calcified blockages (plaque) without causing harm. This system is designed to create a path through the blockage, allowing doctors to place guidewires through the arterial blockage for further treatment. During the procedure, the device uses ultrasonic vibrations to break through the blockage, making it easier for the doctor to remove plaque without harming the surrounding artery wall.
The Diamondback 360® is a type of drill with a diamond-coated crown that pulverizes calcium build-up. The tiny diamond particles shave down the calcium, which gets washed away by the blood and filtered out through the kidneys. Once an adequate arterial opening is established, a stent can then be placed.
