NICU
If a baby requires very special care, PIH Health Good Samaritan Hospital has level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed 24 hours a day by a highly trained team of neonatologists, nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners and social workers.
A neonatologist is available for consultation with the obstetrician 24 hours a day. The maternal fetal medicine physician will help manage any maternal and fetal complications during pregnancy, while a neonatal team specializing in acute care for newborns attends all high-risk deliveries. Ultrasound equipment and operating suites are all close at hand. Our team of obstetrical anesthesiologists is also available 24 hours a day to make a mother’s labor more comfortable or to assist in any emergency.
Our NICU staff encourages important parent-infant bonding. Parents have 24-hour open visiting privileges and are encouraged to visit or call to check their baby’s progress as often as they like. Please note that 1 parent at a time may visit the NICU.
