Celebrating National Robotics Week at PIH Health

National Robotics Week, observed April 4–12, 2026, is a time to recognize the impact of robotics and inspire interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). In honor of this week, we’re highlighting the way robotic technology is helping our physicians deliver advanced care and support patients in living their healthiest lives.
Robotic technologies have become an important part of modern medicine. At PIH Health, we support our physicians as they adopt innovative tools that enhance patient outcomes and elevate the standard of care.
Robotic-assisted surgery is used in general surgery cases, and across several specialties that include orthopedics, urology, women’s health, and bariatric surgery. These advanced robotic systems allow for greater precision, improved accuracy, and more personalized treatment approaches.
Robotics at PIH Health
- Bariatric Surgery: Bariatric (weight loss) surgeons use the da Vinci Surgical System® to perform sleeve gastrectomy, roux en y gastric bypass, single anastomosis duodeno-ileal (SADI) bypass with sleeve gastrectomy, and revisions to prior bariatric surgeries.
- General Surgery: General surgeons use the da Vinci Surgical System® to perform different hernia repairs, anti-reflux procedures, feeding tube replacement, bowel surgery and more.
- Orthopedics: Orthopedic specialists use ROSA®, a robotic surgical system, to deliver a personalized joint replacement experience before, during, and after surgery.
- The Persona IQ® smart knee, part of the ROSA platform, enables real-time data tracking, helping surgeons achieve greater precision, alignment, and accuracy during knee replacement procedures.
- The MyMobility App® keeps patients connected with their care team throughout their surgical journey. This secure platform allows patients and physicians to monitor recovery progress, receive reminders, and stay engaged every step of the way.
- Urology: Urologists utilize the da Vinci Surgical System® to perform procedures involving the prostate, bladder, and kidneys. This includes treatment for both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions, as well as reconstructive surgeries of the urinary system.
- Women’s Health: Gynecologists use the da Vinci Surgical System® to treat conditions such as severe pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal bleeding, pelvic organ prolapse, and certain cancers.
PIH Health general and bariatric surgeon Jason Jensen MD, shares: “Robotic surgery is transforming how we perform procedures. It allows surgeons to operate with greater precision and tailor each surgery to the individual needs of the patient.”
Robotic technology in healthcare is exciting. It combines innovation and expertise to improve outcomes for both patients and providers. If you’re considering surgery, talk with your doctor to find out if a robotic-assisted approach may be right for you.
