New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Program
The New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Program was created to provide ongoing clinical and personal support to first-year nurses in practice. The program gives new graduates a forum to share thoughts, feelings, concerns, and clinical experiences. Through the process of sharing, new graduates are empowered with the understanding that the challenges experienced during transition from school to practice are “normal.”
PIH Health Whittier Hospital’s New Graduate RN Residency Program is a 12-month cohort model offered four times a year. The goals are to:
- Assist new graduate RNs in their transition into the RN role
- Establish the delivery of high-quality and safe patient care while exhibiting PIH Health's core values
- Enhance clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and clinical judgment
- Support continuous professional development
