Temporary Hospital Visiting Hours

EVERYONE WILL BE SCREENED (NOT TESTED) FOR COVID-19 AND REQUIRED TO WEAR A SIMPLE MASK BEFORE ENTERING THE HOSPITALS. MASKS WILL BE DISCARDED UPON EXIT AND A NEW MASK ISSUED AT RE-ENTRY.

Visitors who do not have patient related business to conduct within the facility will not be granted access. Certain exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis with appropriate precautions, such as for loved ones who have requested to visit patients who are approaching end of life.

PIH Health Downey Hospital

General Visiting Hours

  • 8 am to 12 Noon, and 4 pm to 8 pm
  • 1 visitor per day per patient
  • No visitors under 16 allowed in any areas of the hospital
  • No visitors allowed for COVID-19 isolation patients (those pending test results and those testing positive) in any areas of the hospital

Critical Care Center

  • 8 am to 10 am, and 6 pm to 8 pm
  • 1 visitor per day per patient

Emergency Department (ED)

  • 1 visitor per patient for entire stay in the ED

Procedure and Surgical Visitors

  • 1 visitor per day per patient
  • Upon arrival, the visitor will be instructed regarding location for waiting area while procedure or surgery is occurring
  • Visitor is required to remain in designated waiting area unless the visitor is leaving the facility

Rehabilitation

  • No visitors at this time

PIH Health Whittier Hospital

General Hospital Visiting

  • Non-Covid Units - Two visitors per day per patient.  Visiting hours are 3 pm to 7 pm daily.
    • Exception:
      • One visitor for the post-op surgical total joint patients will be scheduled to arrive to the hospital by 9 am on post-op day 1 for family caregiver physical therapy training with patient and physical therapist.
      • Visitors accompanying patients to the surgical area will be allowed to stay after the patient goes to surgery and follow the patient to the assigned post-operative room after surgery. 
  • Closed Covid Units - No visitors with exception of special circumstances, e.g., end of life.  This will also apply to any patient room with a suspected/positive Covid patient.
  • Critical Care Center - Two visitors per day per patient for Non-Covid patients.  Visiting hours are 8am to 10am. 
    • Visitors must check in with Main Lobby Receptionist to verify if patient is able to receive visitors.
  • Labor & Delivery and Maternal Newborn Departments

    • One coach/visitor may remain overnight, and is limited from coming and going from the department.

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

    • One visitor with the same ID band as the baby will be allowed.

  • No Visitors for the Following Areas:

    • Transitional Care Unit (TCU)
    • Acute Rehabilitation Center (ARC)
    • Infusion Center
    • Barlow

Gift Shop, Jazzman’s and Cafeteria open to visitors who are visiting or accompanying patients.
