Stay Motivated and Get Fit

“Incorporating at least 30 minutes of moderate physical exercise each day can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you want to lose weight, you may need to exercise more to reach your fitness goals, however it’s always best to consult with your doctor before increasing the amount of daily physical activity,” says Cesar Espiritu MD, PIH Health Family Medicine physician.

Here are ways to stay motivated and get fit.

Set goals. Before you reach your desired fitness goals, you must set the goals you want to reach. Your fitness goals can include losing weight, toning muscles or simply maintaining your overall health. Whatever your goals may be, set them and determine what you need to do to reach them.

Make a schedule. Making a schedule can be both effective and fulfilling. Start out by planning the week with tasks that need to be completed, and don’t forget to include some healthy training. Incorporate set times each day to get a little physical activity in. Make it fun and do it with your family! When you’re done, place a check mark next to the completed workout. Eat healthy snacks and meals. In addition to working out, make sure you are giving your body healthy snacks and meals throughout the day. Eating healthy and working out go hand-in-hand. When you eat healthy you will be more motivated to work out and vice versa. Follow health and fitness pages. A great way to stay motivated is to follow social media pages that encourage a healthy lifestyle. When you see other people working out and being healthy, you may be inspired to do the same. Follow us, we post the latest health trends, recipes and more. 

Train your mind. Staying motivated starts in the mind. Remind yourself everyday of your goals and continue working towards them. If you miss a work out day or indulge in a cheat meal, don’t be hard on yourself. The key to reaching your goals is to get back up and start again.

Staying motivated gets easier as you continue incorporating healthy habits into your routine. You should enjoy the process of reaching your fitness goals and remember the ultimate objective is to be healthy.
