Required Vaccinations for Students

Now that schools are out for summer, it’s time to make an appointment with your pediatrician to make sure your child is up to date on vaccinations. The pediatricians at PIH Health and the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices endorse several recommended vaccinations beyond the school required vaccinations which are approved to keep your child healthy from preventable diseases. 

The state of California has specific vaccination requirements for school admission.

California Requirements

Schools in California are required to check the immunization record of all children entering TK/Kindergarten and all students advancing to the 7th grade.  All students who enter a California public or private elementary or secondary school for the first time or transfer between schools must present their immunization record.

Children entering TK/Kindergarten must show proof of the following immunizations1:
