Woman talking with volunteer about cancer aid and wig fittingsBattling cancer can be an emotionally exhausting experience that can cause fear, anxiety and depression. Fortunately, support is available through PIH Health’s new Oncology Resource Center, which provides information and resources to help empower people battling cancer. At the Center, patients can obtain cancer related information as well as learn about community classes and support groups with the help of trained cancer survivors. Programs offered through the American Cancer Society, such as the “Look Good Feel Better” class and “I Can Cope” online class, can help patients through their journey.

The Oncology Resource Center also offers complimentary wigs and wig fittings to cancer patients. According to Sarah Merkle RN MSN AOCNS, clinical nurse specialist at PIH Health, these types of services can help guide cancer patients and loved ones by providing specialized care and support. Please share this information with your friends and family who might benefit from these free services.  For more information, please contact the Oncology Resource Center at 562.698.0811 Ext. 12820.
